This horror film about a doll substituting for a tragically deceased child was the 3rd worst new film of the week on January 22. These are the biggest reasons it's being considered for the Worst of 2016 RAZZIES:
*Director William Brent Bell has precedent as a 2006 RAZZIE quarterfinalist for Stay Alive, a widely-panned horror film about people dying in video games and from there dying for real, and 2012 RAZZIE semifinalist The Devil Inside.
*It has moderately negative reviews: 29% at Rotten Tomatoes and 42% at Metacritic. This puts it at the same level as Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ariel Vromen's Criminal, and Alice Through the Looking Glass.
*Other than the atmosphere, it's not scary or well-written. Similar to Jason Zada's The Forest, it's big on jump scares. The plot premise makes little sense, and the sequence of events is very hard to believe.
