This sequel to Ice Cube's and Kevin Hart's critic-failed 2014 buddy cop comedy was the 2nd worst new film of the week on January 15. These are the biggest reasons it's a contender:
*It flopped at least as hard with critics as the first, with a 15% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes and 32% review average at Metacritic.
*Despite the commercial success, it was dismissed for shamelessly rehashing the original. A few minor differences included a slightly more fearsome drug lord hiding out in Miami rather than the first one's Atlanta, and Hart's character trying to get promoted to detective rather than simply joining the force.
*If Central Intelligence flops with critics on June 17, Kevin Hart will have 2 films to compete for Worst Actor with. His chance to avoid winning that RAZZIE counts on The Secret Life of Pets and his stand-up comedy feature, subtitled "What Now", getting fresh reviews.
*Ken Jeong might compete for this and Norm of the North, provided they're either both leading or both supporting roles.
*Olivia Munn might compete for Worst Actress or Worst Supporting Actress for this and Zoolander No. 2, plus Office Christmas Party if that flops with critics.
I just saw it. For your consideration:
-Worst Supporting Actor for Ken Jeong (also for NORM OF THE NORTH).
-Worst Supporting Actress for Olivia Munn.
-Worst Screen Couple for Ice Cube and Munn and for Kevin Hart and Tika Sumpter.
-Worst Prequel or Sequel.
Oh, and maybe Worst Supporting Actress for Sumpter. But not Worst Screen Couple for Cube and Heart.
