IF 2009 WASN’T BAD ENOUGH BECAUSE HASBRO GAVE THE RAZZIES 2 ADAPTATIONS OF TOYS FOR SINGLE DIGIT AGED BOYS, ONE WORST PICTURE CHAMPION AND THE OTHER A RUNNER-UP, OCTOBER 2016 IS GIVING US TWO TOY ADAPTATIONS WITHIN A MONTH, IN FACT A WEEK APART! MORE LIKE A QUARTER OF A MONTH! IF YOU REMEMBER HOW BADLY FILM CRITICS ON YOUTUBE SUCH AS JAHNS, STUCKMANN, AND SCHMOES_KNOW HATED 2014’S OUIJA, THEN YOU SHOULD KEEP IN MIND THAT THE PREQUEL, ORIGIN OF EVIL, IS OPENING NEXT WEEKEND, LIKELY AS THE 2ND WORST FILM OF THAT WEEK NEXT TO BOO! A MADEA HALLOWEEN.
FILMGOERS WERE SICK OF ORIGIN STORIES SEVERAL YEARS AGO, AND INSTEAD OF REVIVING SOME CANNED PROJECTS THAT FILMGOERS WERE ACTUALLY ASKING FOR, HOLLYWOOD IS GIVING US AN EVEN FURTHER IN-DEPTH ORIGIN STORY AROUND THE LORE OF WHAT’S ESSENTIALLY A LITTLE PLASTIC TOY BY MATTEL FROM BEFORE THE NEW MILLENNIUM. THEY WAITED THROUGH 2013’S REBOOT OF THE TV SERIES, DURING WHICH THE LICENSE EXPIRED, DELAYED IT ONCE OR TWICE FROM ITS ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE OF LATE 2014, AND FINALLY BROUGHT IT TO THEATRES NOW OF ALL POSSIBLE TIMES… ONLY TO SCORE O FOR 8 ON THE TOMATOMETER. IT’S A PROBLEM WE’VE SEEN A MILLION TIMES: WHAT WAS ALL THAT EFFORT FOR?
IF YOU THINK THIS SHOULD JOIN THE RAZZIE RACE AS ANOTHER DARK HORSE, SPLASH SOME RAZZBERRY JAM STAINS ON MAX STEEL BELOW!
As MiguelAntilsu pointed out days ago, the marketing for this movie has been terrible. It would've been terrible for any movie, but it's worse for this: A big-budget adaptation of an action figure line that stopped being popular among kids a while ago. I don't see how this will not flop. And I don't see who is this movie targeted at.
Worth pointing out that the movie features one person in some Razzie consideration, Maria Bello for also being in The 5th Wave, and one person who may or may not be in Razzie consideration, Oscar nominated Andy Garcia for also being in the controversial Ghostbusters reboot.
Will either of them make the final ballot? That is your decision.
Akiva Goldsman: The writer partially responsible for this year's triple threat of The Dark Tower, Rings, and, worst of all, Transformers: The Last Knight. I'll be shocked if all three screenplays do not make the ballots.

Gabriel Bahamondes (1/7): "The aesthetics, mise-en-scène and visual effects put the film in the group of commercial mass-produced movies meant for teenagers looking for action and a good time eating popcorn. The problem is that this flick, based on the Mattel toys franchise, doesn't entertain anyone.
